Hello from the heart of Montana, Augusta's Rocky Mountain Front. In case you're new around here, we wanted to take a minute and introduce you to Latigo & Lace.
Here's a few things we think you should know about us...
Latigo & Lace
We've been located in downtown Augusta, Montana since we opened in 1992. 20 years after the store opened, we (Jason and Christi Levine) purchased it and became part of the downtown business community. The shop has an eclectic mix of offerings, including jewelry, artwork, photography, pottery, sculptures and books, as well as a coffee bar and kids corner. Plus, and this may be our favorite part, around 80 percent of our inventory is from Montana artists and creators. Our storefront is located at 122 Main Street and we're open seven days a week during the summer season. You can also find us at our website, on Facebook and on Instagram.
Jason & Christi Levine
We were both raised in the Augusta area and Christi's mom, Tina Freeman, was one of the first employees of Latigo & Lace. This journey came full circle when we purchased the store in late 2012.In addition to owning and running the shop, we are the fourth generation to live and work the Levine Ranch outside of town. Today, you'll find us popping back and forth between our ranch outside of Augusta and the store in town. Chances are, you'll also find us chasing our kids Payton and Royce around to their various activities, including basketball, volleyball, rodeo and baseball. As a family, we're lucky we get to live, work and play in the most beautiful place in the world.
A small town of around 350 or so residents, Augusta is a hidden Montana gem. The town sits along Highway 287 (and is just off Highway 21) and is on one of the most scenic routes between Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park.
We're also about an hour from Great Falls and an hour from Helena, making it an easy day trip for Montana locals. Our little town also offers easy access to the Bob Marshall Wilderness, is home to guest ranches and outfitters, has plenty of places to grab breakfast, lunch or dinner and is one of the friendliest communities you'll every visit. If you've heard of our little slice of heaven, it's likely because your folks or friends have attended the Augusta American Legion Rodeo (held the last Sunday in June) and lived to tell about it. Once known as the wildest rodeo in the West, it's still a kick-up-your-heels good time, but now offers plenty of family-friendly activities as well.
Until next time, we hope you'll find your way to Augusta, Montana, explore downtown, hit up the area's hiking trails and come see us at Latigo & Lace.
